He was awarded his black belt in , at the age of He continued to travel back and forth to train and in he once again traveled to Japan to test before Shugoro Nakazato and Chosin Chibana for his 7th Degree Black Belt, becoming the youngest 7th Dan in history.

During the Pro-Am Karate Tournament, Sensei illustrated to a standing audience of over 7, spectators, his mastery and skill of ancient Kobudo weaponry. Yamashita combines many progressive fighting tactics with traditional aspects of karatedo. Yamashita's system known as Suikendo [ 4 ] translates to fist flowing like water. This system of fighting allows the karateka to simultaneously block and strike his opponent. Yamashita has made many movies over the past 20 years.
